K-6 Redistricting Criteria Survey Results and Next Steps – Attend our Community Meeting on 12/3
Dear Middie Family,
Thank you for taking the time to complete our K-6 Redistricting Criteria Survey. Your feedback and participation ensure that this process reflects the voices and priorities of our community.
As we work together to shape the future of Middletown City Schools, your input has helped clarify the factors that matter most in creating a redistricting plan that serves our students and families effectively. The top priorities identified in the survey based on your responses are:
- Creating boundaries that assign students to their nearest school,
- Modifying boundaries in a way that impacts as few students as possible,
- Balancing enrollment among schools equitably, and
- Ensuring entire neighborhoods are assigned to the same school.
These priorities are guiding our efforts, and highlight the collective importance we all place on stability, proximity, and equity. We’re committed to honoring these values as we proceed with the next steps in the redistricting process.
You can read the full Boundary Planning Criteria Survey Results Report here.
The next phase of our K-6 Redistricting Project will involve creating preliminary boundary scenarios. On December 3 at 6 p.m., we will hold a community meeting with Woolpert to present these scenarios. I invite all of you to join us in the Auditorium at Middletown High School to view the proposed boundaries, provide your feedback, and engage in discussions about these options. Our district leadership team will be present to answer any questions. Your continued involvement is essential as we work toward a plan that supports our students and strengthens our schools. The meeting will also be live-streamed on our YouTube page.
There you can read Frequently Asked Questions and view available informational resources.
Thank you again for your support and your partnership in this effort. I look forward to seeing you on December 3 and continuing this important journey together.
Sincerely,
Deborah Houser
Superintendent
Middletown City School District
