Senior Luke Atkinson Signs with Project LIFE
Beaming with pride in front of a crowd of his biggest fans and supporters, Luke Atkinson, a senior at Middletown High School, signed his "letter of intent" with Butler Tech's Project LIFE on Monday.
More than 100 people, including Atkinson's family, friends, peers, teammates, mentors, teachers, and coaches were in attendance at Wade E. Miller Arena for the signing.
Project LIFE is a comprehensive, multi-year transition program in which students develop, practice, and strengthen skills that are high predictors of increased adult independence and successful, integrated employment in the community.
Throughout his academic journey at Middletown City School District (MCSD), Atkinson has demonstrated remarkable growth and progress. Monday's milestone moment represented a personal achievement for Atkinson and served as a testament to the inclusive and supportive environment fostered within Middletown High School and (MCSD).
Atkinson is already something of a celebrity at Middletown High School.
He has served as a team manager for the boys' basketball and soccer teams, as well as a mentor for the Physical Education Opportunity Program for Exceptional Leaders (PEOPEL), and was recently featured on ABC's World News Tonight.
