Dear Middie Family,

This morning, Middletown City School District (MCSD) was made aware of a social media threat involving four of our school buildings. MCSD immediately collaborated with the Middletown Division of Police, and after a thorough investigation, a student is now facing charges in connection with this incident. Please know the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of speaking up when they see or hear something concerning. In this case, the swift action of those who reported the threat was crucial in ensuring the situation was addressed quickly. We encourage our students to continue to report suspicious activity or concerns to a trusted adult or through our established safety reporting systems.

Additionally, we ask parents to have important conversations with their children about the gravity of making threats, even if they believe them to be a joke. Threats of any kind are taken seriously, and there are significant consequences for such actions. MCSD maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy when it comes to threats of violence. We are committed to providing a safe environment where every student can learn and thrive.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all.

Sincerely,

Deborah Houser
Superintendent
Middletown City School District
