Middletown to Extend Hybrid Phase-In

La Junta de Educación (BOE) del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Middletown (MCSD) votó anoche unánimemente para extender la transición de regreso al salón de clases. El distrito permanecerá en un entorno híbrido durante las vacaciones de Diciembre y la BOE revisará la decisión en la segunda reunión de la Junta En enero de 2021.
En la reunión de BOE, la junta de MCSD reconoció la escasez de personal y maestros sustitutos con los altos números de cuarentenas. Las escuelas de la ciudad de Middletown comenzaron la transición de regreso al salón de clases el 19 de Octubre. La semana pasada, el distrito vio a 158 empleados y estudiantes en cuarentena y 11 miembros del personal y estudiantes dieron positivo por COVID-19.
Marlon Styles, Jr., superintendente de MCSD, recomendó que el distrito extienda la incorporación paulatina durante todo el segundo trimestre (18 de Diciembre) y el comienzo del segundo semestre (5 de Enero) en un entorno híbrido.
Mientras que MCSD sigue siendo híbrido, los estudiantes con apellidos A-L vendrán al edificio escolar los Lunes y Martes y los estudiantes con apellidos M-Z vendrán al edificio escolar los Jueves y Viernes. Todos los estudiantes asistirán a clases de forma remota los Miércoles mientras se limpian los edificios.
"He dicho esto repetidamente 'queremos que nuestros estudiantes regresen'. Podemos hacer que suceda si hacemos nuestra parte para detener la propagación usando máscaras, siguiendo los protocolos de distancia social y lavándonos las manos", dijo Styles.

The Middletown City School District (MCSD) Board of Education (BOE) voted unanimously to extend the transition back to the classroom. The district will stay in a hybrid setting through the December holidays and the BOE will revisit the decision at the second Board meeting in January 2021.
At the BOE meeting, the MCSD board recognized the staff and substitute teacher shortage with the high quarantine numbers. Middletown City Schools began transitioning back to the classroom on October 19. Last week, the district saw 158 staff and students quarantined and 11 staff and students test positive for COVID-19.
Marlon Styles, Jr., MCSD superintendent, recommended the district extend the phase-in for the entire second quarter (December 18) and the start of the second semester (January 5) in a hybrid setting.
While MCSD remains hybrid, students with last names A-L will come to the school building on Mondays and Tuesdays and students with last names M-Z will come to the school building on Thursdays and Fridays. All students will attend class remotely on Wednesdays while the buildings are being cleaned..
“I have said this repeatedly ‘we want our students back.’ We can make it happen if we do our part to stop the spread by masking up, following social distance protocols, and washing our hands,” said Styles.
