Middletown Middle going remote Dec. 7- 18

Dear MMS Parents/Guardians: 

As you know, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in our area. Beginning Monday, December 7 through Friday, December 18, students of the Middletown Middle School will move to a fully remote learning model. Students enrolled in the Virtual Learning Platform will continue learning as normal.

The building will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 4 and students will not attend class--remotely or in-person--while the staff transitions back to remote learning. After the holiday break, we will return to our hybrid model (A-L Monday and Tuesday, M-Z Thursday and Friday). The first day back is January 5, 2021.

Due to a high number of student and staff COVID-19 cases and quarantines, Middletown City School District believes that moving to remote learning is the best way to protect our students and staff while continuing the learning. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes. 

While we are disappointed that we must close the building, we are pleased with the progress our students have made so far this school year and we expect this transition to be a smooth one. Our MMS staff will be reaching out to students and parents to provide further details about our next steps. The remote learning schedule is on the next page.

As a parent or guardian, we know you are eager to find ways to protect your children and family from COVID19. Please talk to your children about frequent hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, wearing a face covering in public, and cleaning frequently-touched surfaces at home. Most importantly, keep your children home and stay at home yourself, if you are sick. Thank you for your help in reinforcing good hygiene practices, and for your patience and flexibility. 

Once again, we will move back to hybrid on January 5, 2021. Until then be sure to ask your child questions about how his/her remote learning is going and be sure to share any concerns with your child’s teacher.

Estimados padres/guardianes de MMS:

Como saben, ha habido un aumento en el número de casos confirmados de COVID-19 en nuestra área. A partir del Lunes 7 de Diciembre hasta el Viernes 18 de Diciembre, los estudiantes de Middletown Middle School pasarán a un modelo de aprendizaje totalmente remoto. Los estudiantes inscritos en la Plataforma de aprendizaje virtual continuarán aprendiendo con normalidad.

El edificio permanecerá cerrado mañana Viernes 4 de Diciembre y los estudiantes no asistirán a clases, de forma remota o en persona, mientras el personal regresa al aprendizaje remoto. Después de las vacaciones, volveremos a nuestro modelo híbrido (A-L Lunes y Martes, M-Z Jueves y Viernes). El primer día de regreso es el 5 de Enero de 2021.

Debido a una gran cantidad de casos y cuarentenas de COVID-19 de estudiantes y personal, el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Middletown cree que pasar al aprendizaje remoto es la mejor manera de proteger a nuestros estudiantes y personal mientras continúa el aprendizaje. Pedimos disculpas de antemano por las molestias y la decepción que esto causa.

Si bien estamos decepcionados de que debamos cerrar el edificio, estamos complacidos con el progreso que nuestros estudiantes han logrado hasta ahora este año escolar y esperamos que esta transición sea fluida. Nuestro personal de MMS se comunicará con los estudiantes y los padres para proporcionar más detalles sobre nuestros próximos pasos. El programa de aprendizaje remoto está en la página siguiente.

Como padre o tutor, sabemos que está ansioso por encontrar formas de proteger a sus hijos y a su familia del COVID19. Hable con sus hijos(as) sobre lavarse las manos con frecuencia, cubrirse al toser y estornudar, evitar tocarse los ojos, la nariz y la boca, cubrirse la cara en público y limpiar las superficies que se tocan con frecuencia en el hogar. Lo más importante es que mantenga a sus hijos(as) en casa y quédese en casa usted mismo si está enfermo. Gracias por su ayuda para reforzar las buenas prácticas de higiene y por su paciencia y flexibilidad.

Una vez más, volveremos al híbrido el 5 de Enero de 2021. Hasta entonces, asegúrese de hacerle preguntas a su hijo(a) sobre cómo va su aprendizaje remoto y asegúrese de compartir cualquier inquietud con el maestro de su hijo.
