Middletown City Schools Wishes Debbie Sander the Best in Retirement

This week Middletown City School District (MCSD) wishes Mrs. Debbie Sander, Executive Director of Student Services, a heartfelt farewell as she starts her next job: retirement. Mrs. Sander, a lifelong Middletown resident, has spent 25 years with MCSD and 33 in education. 

In a career spanning from the late 1980s to the early 2020s, Mrs. Sander has seen education trends come and go, school boards change, nine MCSD superintendents, and hundreds of students. Despite inevitable change, what remains constant is her enjoyment of the children’s sense of wonder, smiles, and laughter.

“Developing the relationships with the students and their families is what I loved...Being able to watch a student bloom socially and academically within a school year and knowing that I had made a difference in that children's life, that was a gift.” 

Mrs. Sander started teaching kindergarten in 1988 at Taft Elementary School, a former Middletown City School. After 20 years inside the classroom, Mrs. Sander accepted the Senior Director of Curriculum position at Monroe Local Schools and then the Senior Director of Curriculum and Senior Director of Student Services at Deer Park Community City Schools. Fast forward eight years and Mrs. Sander returned to her Middie roots in 2016 when she accepted the Executive Director of Student Services position.

Mrs. Sander is a true Middie, a dedicated educator, and an advocate for all students. In the Executive Director of Student Services role, Mrs. Sander cultivated a positive culture within her department as well as the central office. Her ability to collaborate with anyone ensured all special education students got the services they needed to receive an equitable education. 

Fortunately, Mrs. Dana Miller, current MCSD Student Services Coordinator, will move seamlessly into the director position, ensuring the culture remains strong and the education top notch for all students. Thank you Mrs. Sander for your gift of service.

Las Escuelas de la Ciudad de Middletown desea a Debbie Sander lo mejor en su jubilación

Esta semana, el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Middletown (MCSD) desea a la Sra. Debbie Sander, Directora Ejecutiva de Servicios Estudiantiles, una sincera despedida al comenzar su próximo trabajo: La jubilación. La Sra. Sander, residente de toda la vida de Middletown, ha pasado 25 años con MCSD y 33 en educación.

En una carrera que abarca desde finales de la década de 1980 hasta principios del 2020, la Sra. Sander ha visto ir y venir las tendencias educativas, cambios en las juntas educativas, nueve superintendentes de MCSD y cientos de estudiantes. A pesar del cambio inevitable, lo que permanece constante es su disfrute de la sensación de asombro, sonrisas y risas de los niños.

"Desarrollar las relaciones con los estudiantes y sus familias es lo que me encantó ... Poder ver a un estudiante florecer social y académicamente dentro de un año escolar y saber que había hecho una diferencia en la vida de esos niños, fue un regalo".

La Sra. Sander comenzó a enseñar kínder en 1988 en Taft Elementary School, una antigua escuela de la ciudad de Middletown. Después de 20 años dentro del salón de clases, la Sra. Sander aceptó el puesto de Directora Ejecutiva de Currículo en las Escuelas Locales de Monroe y luego Directora Ejecutiva de Currículo y Directora Ejecutiva de Servicios Estudiantiles en Deer Park Community City Schools. Más adelante en ocho años y la Sra. Sander regresó a sus raíces Middie en 2016 cuando aceptó el puesto de Directora Ejecutiva de Servicios Estudiantiles.

La Sra. Sander es una verdadera Middie, una educadora dedicada y defensora de todos los estudiantes. En el puesto de Directora Ejecutiva de Servicios Estudiantiles, la Sra. Sander cultivó una cultura positiva dentro de su departamento, así como en la oficina central. Su capacidad para colaborar con cualquier persona aseguró que todos los estudiantes de educación especial recibieran los servicios que necesitaban para recibir una educación equitativa.

Afortunadamente, la Sra. Dana Miller, actual Coordinadora de Servicios Estudiantiles de MCSD, pasará sin problemas al puesto de directora, asegurando que la cultura se mantenga fuerte y la educación de primera categoría para todos los estudiantes. Gracias Sra. Sander por su don de servicio.
