In an exciting move to combat chronic absenteeism and promote student success, Middletown City School District (MCSD) has proudly joined the "Stay in the Game!" Attendance Network, a statewide initiative that champions the importance of consistent school attendance. This partnership arrives just in time for September’s Attendance Awareness Month, perfectly aligning with MCSD's ongoing #MiddieMinutesMatter campaign.

"We know that attendance is one of the most significant predictors of academic achievement. By joining the 'Stay in the Game!' Attendance Network, we’re doubling down on our commitment to ensuring every Middie is present and engaged in their learning every day," Suzanna Davis, Senior Director of Student Services said.

The "Stay in the Game!" Attendance Network was created in 2019 by the Cleveland Browns Foundation, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and Harvard’s Proving Ground, to connect school districts with resources and tools to help raise awareness of the importance of school attendance as a foundation for student success.

Students who are absent from school miss important learning opportunities, which can be difficult, or even impossible, to make up. A student who misses just two to three days of school per month can be chronically absent. Attendance Awareness Month highlights the importance of mobilizing schools, families, and community partners to promote and implement strategies and interventions to reduce chronic absenteeism.

In March of 2024, The "Stay in the Game!" Attendance Network announced FC Cincinnati as a partner to improve student engagement and attendance. With the addition, MCSD and other Southwest Ohio school districts now have a local professional sports team to support attendance efforts for the 2024-2025 school year.
