Middletown City Schools is thrilled to announce a major achievement in its ongoing efforts to improve student attendance. For the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, the district’s chronic absenteeism rate dropped to 33% — a significant improvement from 44.5%, as reported on the 2023-2024 state report card.

The milestone is a testament to the collective efforts of students, families, staff, and community partners all prioritizing regular attendance and engagement.

A key factor behind this improvement is the district’s partnership with the Stay in the Game Attendance Network and FC Cincinnati, which has reinforced the importance of consistent attendance and provided valuable resources to students and families.

Another critical contribution to this progress has been the district’s #MiddieMinutesMatter campaign, emphasizing how every single minute in school makes a difference.

As part of this initiative, the district teamed up with Milton’s Donuts to celebrate classrooms with strong attendance. So far this year, more than 320 dozen donuts have been delivered to classrooms across the district, turning regular attendance into an exciting and rewarding experience for students.

Attendance is the foundation of student achievement. Students who attend school every day are six times more likely to achieve reading success by the end of third grade – and nine times more likely to graduate on time.

Middletown City Schools remains committed to building on this momentum and continuing to support students on their journey toward success.
