The Middletown City School District (MCSD) Strategic Vision: Passport to Tomorrow was formally endorsed by Worthington Industries at last night’s Board of Education meeting thanks to a partnership with the Chamber of Commerce. Worthington Industries is the first entity to endorse the seven year vision.

The Chamber of Commerce Serving Middletown, Monroe & Trenton has been instrumental in introducing area businesses to MCSD. Middletown City Schools is seeking hundreds of endorsements by businesses, colleges, and local military recruitment offices. An endorsement guarantees any Middletown High School graduate a job or admissions interview, access to mentors, and real-world experiences.

“There are lots of exciting things our students will get to experience as a result of an endorsement  of the Ready Now Campaign. Our students will have access to future workforce experiences, mentors throughout the community, different employers and agencies, and higher education institutions,” said Marlon Styles, MCSD Superintendent. “When we met with Worthington Industries, we requested they guarantee any Middletown High School applicant an interview. Mr. Perry and the other executives didn't blink an eye and agreed without hesitation.”

Figuring out what you want to do when you grow up is a challenge, but endorsement options such as Worthington Industries can help students explore classes and fields of study that interest them today so they can find their dream job tomorrow.

“Worthington Industries is excited to support the Ready Now – Passport to Tomorrow initiative.  Doing so allows us to partner with Middletown City Schools and help students develop the skills necessary to be successful in the workforce upon graduation. We want to see every student in our community reach their full potential so they can, as one Middletown student recently dreamed, make life better for themselves and their families,” said Michael Perry, Worthington Industries Human Resource Manager, Monroe/Middletown.

Middletown City School District is recommitting itself to the district’s mission through a strategic vision with equity at the center. The district is calling the seven year strategic vision “Passport to Tomorrow'' and it challenges the district to provide each student equitable access to opportunities and resources they need so all students receive equal outcomes. Every student will have an individualized learning plan, career-focused instructional sequence, and the opportunity to explore different pathways or fields.

“As students pursue employment, enrollment, and/or enlistment, the partnership with Worthington Industries will support students' development of key skill sets to prepare them for future careers beyond graduation,” said Styles.
