MCSD Welcomes New Board of Education Member
Middletown City School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tara Ramsey-Hunter to the Board of Education (BOE), filling the seat vacated by Holly Snow. Ramsey-Hunter, a Middletown resident for more than four decades, brings a passion for education and community engagement to the BOE.
"Growing up in Middletown, I've witnessed firsthand how education transforms lives," Ramsey-Hunter said. "Driven by a passion for community service and a commitment to fostering inclusive, high-quality education, I'm eager to join the Board of Education."
Ramsey-Hunter is an MCSD alum and a parent of a current MCSD student. Her involvement with MCSD includes as a parent volunteer at Central Academy, secretary for Middletown Youth Football and Cheer, and a member of a Middletown High School Football mom's group.
"As a parent of a child who attends our schools, Tara has a deep connection to the district and understands the needs and aspirations of our community," BOE President Chris Urso said. "Her insight and dedication will make her a valuable conduit between Middletown City Schools and the families we serve. We are excited to have her join our team and look forward to the positive impact she will bring to our work."
Ramsey-Hunter has a firsthand perspective on the district’s strengths and opportunities for growth.
"As someone who grew up in our district and now has a high schooler who’s been a Middie since kindergarten, Tara truly understands the heart of our schools and community," MCSD Superintendent Deborah Houser said. "Her connection as both an alum and a parent brings such a valuable perspective, and we can’t wait to see the impact she will have as we work together to make a difference for our students and families."
Ramsey-Hunter will help ensure every Middie has the tools and opportunities they need to rise and will help lead initiatives to support academic achievement, foster community partnerships, and promote operational excellence.
"By actively engaging with students, teachers, and families, I aim to support the continued growth and success of
our district," Ramsey-Hunter said. "I look forward to collaborating with educators, parents, and community leaders to implement innovative programs, enhance our curriculum, and address the diverse needs of our student population. I am excited to contribute to creating a nurturing environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we can build a brighter future for MCSD."
The MCSD BOE meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Middletown City Building, located at One Donham Plaza. BOE Meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend to stay informed and engaged. The meetings can also be viewed live via the MCSD YouTube page.
