JV/Varsity Football Games Cancelled
We received notice that the test results of a Middletown High School football coach has been confirmed as positive by the City of Middletown Health Department. All MHS JV and Varsity football workouts and competitions will be cancelled so the health department can conduct contact tracing and the exposed facilities can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. When making these decisions, we follow the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Return to Play guidelines and the Middletown Health Department guidelines.
Dear Middletown City School District Families:
We received notice that the test results of a Middletown High School football coach has been confirmed as positive by the City of Middletown Health Department. The MHS Athletic Department made personal phone calls and sent letters to ensure all JV and Varsity football families are properly notified of the situation. We are working closely with the health department to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and families.
The safety of our community is always our priority. All MHS JV and Varsity football workouts and competitions will be cancelled for the remainder of the season so the health department can conduct contact tracing and the exposed facilities can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The final JV game was scheduled for this Wednesday and the final varsity game was schedule for this Friday. When making these decisions, we follow the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Return to Play guidelines and the City of Middletown Health Department guidelines.
All athletic facilities used by the football program received enhanced cleaning following district protocols. Exposed coaches and students are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 and report results of testing to Middletown High School. Go to the City of Middletown Health Department’s website to locate testing near you. Or, you can visit the Ohio Department of Health Coronavirus website: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/testing-ch-centers/. Individuals do not need to have symptoms of COVID-19 to be tested.
If families have additional questions or concerns regarding this communication, do not hesitate to reach out to myself, the athletic director, or principal.
To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Middletown City School District supports the state’s guidance, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, that instruct all families to wear a face covering in public spaces, stay at least 6 feet from other people, and frequently wash your hands.

Apreciadas familias del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Middletown:
Recibimos un aviso de que el Departamento de Salud de la Ciudad de Middletown confirmó como positivos los resultados de las pruebas de un entrenador de fútbol de la Middletown High School. El Departamento de Deportes de MHS hizo llamadas telefónicas personales y envió cartas para asegurar que todas las familias de fútbol americano de JV y Varsity estén debidamente notificadas de la situación. Trabajamos en estrecha colaboración con el departamento de salud para garantizar el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes, personal y familias.
La seguridad de nuestra comunidad es siempre nuestra prioridad. Todos los entrenamientos y competiciones de fútbol de MHS JV y Varsity se cancelarán por el resto de la temporada para que el departamento de salud pueda realizar el rastreo de contactos y las instalaciones expuestas se puedan limpiar y desinfectar completamente.
