High School Students to Engage in Experiential Learning Day
On Tuesday, February 27, while juniors are taking the ACT, freshman, sophomore, and senior students at Middletown High School will embark on a day of experiential learning opportunities. The immersive day of hands-on experiences will expand students' learning beyond the school walls and provide career and college opportunities. The day will look different based on a student's interests and grade level.
Freshmen:
More than 350 freshman students will travel to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. They will be applying what they've learned from their World Studies class while visiting the museum.
Sophomores:
More than 350 sophomore students will embark on college visits across the area. These visits will include Miami University Regionals Middletown and Hamilton campuses, Sinclair Community College, Cincinnati State, and Northern Kentucky University.
The visits will allow students a universal experience of what to expect when touring a college. Including what questions to ask, what to look for, and how to prepare.
Juniors:
Juniors will be taking the ACT.
Seniors:
Seniors will be exposed to various careers thanks to six of our Ready Now 100 business partners. 109 seniors have selected to tour one of the following places:
- Deceuninck
- Lahlou
- Emery Federal Credit Union
- Butler Tech's Public Safety Education Complex
- Ohio Living
- Majestic Care
Students will be able to observe firsthand the operations and dynamics of the different industries represented.
Seniors interested will also be able to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
Students involved with Middie Common Grounds will embark on trips to local coffee shops to learn about business practices.
All students will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. on buses. If your student is testing (ACT/ASVAB), they can be dismissed following the testing period. Parents, please send students with a note to be dismissed.
