High School going remote Dec. 3 - Dec. 18
Dear MHS Parents/Guardians:
As you know, there has been a recent increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in our area. Starting tomorrow, December 3 through Friday, December 18, all MHS students (A-Z) will have classes in a fully remote learning setting. After the holiday break, we will return to our hybrid model (A-L Monday and Tuesday, M-Z Thursday and Friday). The first day back is January 5, 2021.
Due to the high number of student and staff COVID-19 quarantines, Middletown City School District believes that moving the high school to remote learning is the best way to protect our students and staff while keeping the learning happening. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes.
The MHS staff is thankful to our students and parents who have embraced the safety measures that allowed us to maintain in person learning over the past month. Special thanks to our entire staff for supporting our students in their frequent hand washing and for tirelessly cleaning our facility, equipment, and materials. During our time away, the district will thoroughly clean and disinfect our building.
While we are disappointed that we must close our building, we are pleased with the progress our students have made so far this school year. Because our students were recently learning five-days remotely, we expect the transition to be smooth. Our teachers will be reaching out to students and parents to provide further details about our next steps.
As a parent or guardian, we know you are eager to find ways to protect your children and family from COVID19. Please talk to your students about frequent hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, wearing a face covering in public, avoid large gatherings, and cleaning frequently-touched surfaces at home. Most importantly, keep your students home and stay at home yourself, if you are sick. Thank you for your help in reinforcing good hygiene practices, and for your patience and flexibility.
Once again, we will move back to hybrid on January 5, 2020. Until then be sure to ask your child questions about how his/her remote learning is going and be sure to share any concerns with your student’s teacher.

Apreciados Padres/Guardianes de la MHS:
Como saben, ha habido un aumento reciente en el número de casos confirmados de COVID-19 en nuestra área. A partir de mañana 3 de diciembre hasta el Viernes 18 de Diciembre, todos los estudiantes de MHS (A-Z) tendrán clases en un entorno de aprendizaje completamente remoto. Después de las vacaciones, volveremos a nuestro modelo híbrido (A-L Lunes y Martes, M-Z Jueves y Viernes). El primer día de regreso es el 5 de Enero de 2021.
Debido a la gran cantidad de cuarentenas de COVID-19 para estudiantes y personal, el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Middletown cree que trasladar la escuela High School al aprendizaje remoto es la mejor manera de proteger a nuestros estudiantes y personal mientras se mantiene el aprendizaje. Pedimos disculpas de antemano por las molestias y la decepción que esto causa.
El personal de MHS está agradecido con nuestros estudiantes y padres que han adoptado las medidas de seguridad que nos permitieron mantener el aprendizaje en persona durante el último mes. Un agradecimiento especial a todo nuestro personal por apoyar a nuestros estudiantes en su frecuente lavado de manos y por limpiar incansablemente nuestras instalaciones, equipos y materiales. Durante nuestro tiempo fuera, el distrito limpiará y desinfectará completamente nuestro edificio.
Si bien estamos decepcionados de que debamos cerrar nuestro edificio, estamos complacidos con el progreso que nuestros estudiantes han logrado hasta ahora este año escolar. Debido a que nuestros estudiantes recientemente estaban aprendiendo cinco días de forma remota, esperamos que la transición sea fluida. Nuestros maestros se comunicarán con los estudiantes y los padres para proporcionar más detalles sobre nuestros próximos pasos.
Como padre o guardián, sabemos que está ansioso por encontrar formas de proteger a sus hijos y a su familia del COVID19. Hable con sus estudiantes sobre lavarse las manos con frecuencia, cubrirse al toser y estornudar, evitar tocarse los ojos, la nariz y la boca, cubrirse la cara en público, evitar grandes reuniones y limpiar las superficies que se tocan con frecuencia en casa. Lo más importante es que mantenga a sus estudiantes en casa y quédese en casa usted mismo si está enfermo. Gracias por su ayuda para reforzar las buenas prácticas de higiene y por su paciencia y flexibilidad.
Una vez más, volveremos a modo híbrido el 5 de Enero de 2020. Hasta entonces, asegúrese de hacerle preguntas a su hijo(a) sobre cómo va su aprendizaje remoto y asegúrese de compartir cualquier inquietud con el maestro de su estudiante.
